These questions and others were finally answered by the Pakistan team on Sunday, when they defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets. This question, had it been asked a few days ago, would have raised many eyebrows but not now! The T20 format seems to have changed the old equations in the cricketing world. No one is invincible anymore. With Australia out of the world cup, Bangladesh whipped by Ireland, it is quite possible that the match between Pakistan and Netherlands could spring another surprise. The South Asian team is in disarray. Its star players are not performing and internal dissension is rife. The team is under severe pressure with captain Younis Khan and coach Intikhab Alam not seeing eye to eye on many issues.

WITH GREAT power comes great responsibility. Let’s recall the classic cricketing days --- A batsman was told to go up in the order if he performed well in the previous match. In match number 18, between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils, Yusuf Pathan came to bat at number seven. Warne tampered with his batting position. Wasn’t it a bit surprising? Didn’t he perform well in the previous match? I guess he was the superhero. He made possible the win against KKR in the super over.
But, where has the traditional cricket culture gone? Is it a wake-up call for all traditional cricket lovers? Hang on, it’s just a new format of cricket and the captains are very much interested in strategy and innovation.
